Fox News: Missing the Point Again

Fox News covered the People's Climate March over the past weekend, the one where over 400,000 people showed up in New York on Sunday and millions gathered all over the world to protest CO2 emissions and their effect on Global Warming and Climate Change. It was the largest Climate Activism event in history. So what did Fox News focus on?

Trash. The trash left by the marchers. And the fact that it contradicts the protestors very message of saving the environment. They have a point, I must concede. The Fox News talking heads also dissed the protesters because they all took carbon emitting transportation to the March and the subsequent "Flood Wall Street" demonstrations. That's where I perked up.
     Did you know that...
every piece of trash, every bottle of water, every food wrapper, every train or car or bike was manufactured with processes that produce CO2? There is virtually nothing in our disposable society that isn't mined, refined, processed, manufactured, transported and distributed that doesn't add to the growing concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere. We are totally dependent on fossil fuels for energy, transportation mining and to provide the chemicals and substances that we use to make everything we have. There is virtually no way for anyone to avoid contributing to the growing effects of Climate Change with the way things work in today's society.

That's the part of the protest that Fox News and other deniers missed. Wall Street puts profits before people. Those companies keep destroying the environment, making the rich rich and poor even poorer, all in the name of Capitalism. They ignore the wastes that will affect our future in order to profit TODAY. So those protestors marched, and they took all of those things we throw away and left it downtown for the Wall Street crowd to deal with. "Here's the mess you created, by giving us no other way to live on this world. This has to end!"
Our transportation systems are based on fossil fuels. Oil, coal, gasoline, propane, natural gas. Giving the protestors crap for driving or flying or taking a train to an environmental protest shows the ignorance of the people covering the March. I bet if the fish in Lake Erie marched on Cleveland to protest the terrible water conditions they live in, Fox News would give the fish crap for swimming through the polluted waters to get there.

Climate Progress did a nice piece on this, which you can read below.

Do yourself a favor and look at the big picture. We need to change the way we do things on this planet, so in the future we can travel to our protests in clean transportation that doesn't emit greenhouse gases and our refuse can be eaten on the spot or sold back for a dime. You know, sustainably.
